As a boost to tourism, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism and Culture has announced a new initiative for providing preloaded SIM Card to foreign tourists arriving in India on e-Visa. This is marked to be a new initiative of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., (BSNL).
Rs. 50 Talk-Time and 50 MB Data
According to this offer, BSNL will be distributing preloaded SIM cards to foreign tourists arriving in India on e-Visa. These SIM cards will be preloaded with a value of Rs.50 talk-time and 50 MB of data, with immediate activation facility. This facility will be initially available in the Indira Gandhi International Airport (T3 Terminal), New Delhi.
The Government would later expand it to the remaining 15 international airports. BSNL will collect e-Visa copy and the first page of the Passport from the foreign tourists on arrival at the airport, post which they will hand a preloaded SIM card to the tourists. This facility is only available for tourists arriving in India on e-Visa.
